Owners since May 2009, Peter and I bought the shop and re-energized it with two goals in mind: continuing the legacy of Persnickety Palm, a fixture of historic Leesburg, Virginia, and pursuing the belief that resort chic is more than summers at the beach, it's a style and state of mind for everyday life, lived all year long.

I've always loved art, clothes, anything and everything visual, even during my previous lives as an engineer and attorney. Peter, who still practices law representing radio stations across the country, grew up around art and antiques. From Nashville to New Mexico, LA to New York, Connecticut to Florida, and places in between we've always been admirers of style in all its forms, whether art, literature, antiques, design, and of course clothes!

You may have noticed the distinctive pink and green leopard print tissue in the store. Or the pink and green leopard print curtains leading to the back room. No? How about the pink and green leopard print on our website? Why leopard print? Well, we love animals, especially leopards. And to be honest, I just love leopard print. Yes, even our classic mahogany Chippendale dining room chairs are upholstered in leopard print jacquard (no, not pink and green). It's classic, and part of our style. It's also the name of our company, Princess Leopard Print, LLC. There's more to that story, but we're saving that for later.

So in many ways, owning Persnickety Palm is a culmination of the life experiences we all have, and the opportunity to bring those experiences together into one ideal: living a life of style -- a resort chic life! Of course everyone has his or her own style, shaped by the places and people and things seen and learned along the way. Is our picture of the resort chic life yours? Maybe not, but we bet there's some common ground. That's because certain aspects of style are simply classic and stand the test of time, even when paired with the modern, fun, and funky.
